NEW IOWA LOCAL OPTION TAXES GO INTO EFFECT JULY 1
[June 2007]

On July 1, 2007, the “regular” local option sales tax will become effective in 44 jurisdictions in Adams, Greene, Keokuk, Louisa, Poweshiek, and Ringgold counties. Additional information is available at
http://www.state.ia.us/tax/business/newlost.html

In addition, the school local option tax will be in effect in Johnson and Linn counties.

Businesses making sales in these counties may need to collect this new tax. These taxes are in addition to the 5% state sales tax and are collected on the sale of the same services and tangible personal property subject to the state sales tax, with certain exceptions detailed on the Iowa Department of Revenue Web site.
